I'm Bored

Real talk time.

I follow a lot of bloggers. When I started I think my blogroll had three people on it. And one of them wasn't posting anymore.

Now I've gotta have upwards of twenty and some of you are just ridiculous. You know who you are. The ones who post every day. You have tons of pictures every day. You review stuff every day. Who the heck are you? How do you have time for that??

Bumping up to twice a week was huge for me, because I could barely get just the one post out on time. Now I'd like to say my 'regular' days are are Tuesday and Thursday but as you may have noticed, Thursday came and went this week with no blog post from me.

It's hard to take pictures of him.
He follows me.
Because what the hell do I write about right now, honestly?

I tried taking a video of myself riding by propping my phone up. I did get some passable clips, but most of the video is the empty indoor wall with me yelling at Runkle out of frame or giggling and talking to someone else miles way from my camera.

Riveting.
One of the things that sold me on Runkle the very first time I sat on him was how loose he was through his back. He has the most beautiful, swinging walk I've ever sat. My trainer and I joke that he walks like he's got a dump in his pants.

LOOK AT HIS CUTE BOT BOOTS!!
The downside of him being that soft in the back is holy cow can he buck. I've never seen anything like it. I've never sat anything like it. I can't take pictures of our lunging progress because I need both hands as Runkle goes fully fledged bronco. It used to be a party trick of mine; I rode the shit out of mechanical bulls and impressed my friends by never falling off. One time at Johnny Utah's in NYC the guy controlling the bull actually told me I had to dismount because I was taking too long to get unseated 'naturally'.

Those bulls have nothing on Runkle. I could probably stand on their back and not fall off now.

So props to everyone who finds stuff to write about every day. I love reading your content and admiring your dedication to blogland even as I struggle like hell to come up with two measly posts a week.
It snowed last weekend. This is my hood.

  1. I feel the same way 😂 like here, enjoy my dark shitty blurry cell phone shots and my three line recaps about how my ride was fine and nobody died.

    2. Mmmmm swedish leather! My knock off PS dressage bridle should be here any day now and I'm super stoked! Runkle looks FAB in the bridle! (Also, my phone just tried to autocorrect Runkle to tinkle and I'm legit dying haha)

  2. This is why I give myself topics. Like Truthful Tuesday, I admit something. More often than it should be it's something I spent money on that I shouldn't have or even worse that I have nothing to write about. Fluff I suppose.
I haven't ridden in so long, I'm not even sure I can still call my blog a horse blog. Oy.
Runkle sounds impressive! I love that you were told you had to get off the bull. That's awesome!

  3. I've also gotten kicked off a bull before. I was quite sad about it. One bonus about Stinker's awkward conformation is he can't buck to save his life.

The media on my blog is basically look at this cute face...

  4. Girl, I feel you. "Today I rode. We walked. I tried to keep the pony's spine between my buttcheeks. The end." WINTER IS BORING.

  5. I used to blog every day. It's a lot of work. Now I blog when I have content that I want to remember later, which when you're brain injured and lunging, is not a lot.

However, brain injured and lunging sure has translated to a lot of tack buying. Just saying.

  6. Sometimes it's hard, but other times the content flows pretty easily. Any time I have an idea for a post I start a draft, even if it's just a title, and then go back to it later. I have some that have been sitting in drafts forever, waiting for a content lag. Someday. I do most of my writing on the weekends, or in the evening while SO is watching a dumb show (or, uh, at work when I just NEED A MINUTE). A lot of times I'll even do "voice to text" and draft something while I'm driving, then come back and edit it/add photos later. I actually steer away from ride recaps, because I think they're pretty boring therefore they're hard for me to write about lol. Pictures are the hardest thing for me, since I ride alone. You don't get a lot of them on my blog, and what you do get is all from my phone. Sorry world.

    1. oooh voice to text is a good idea. you think I'd be better at this, I was a freakin english minor with a concentration in writing. But I think that just leads me to hate and erase everything I write because its not 'good enough'

  7. How do you even take video with your phone propped up? I straight up can't even do that. So you're one step ahead of me.

Murray is the opposite of Runkle - VERY stiff backed. He can also buck - like feet above his ears, legs going in all different directions bucks. But they aren't bucks that unseat you. It's almost like his magical stiff back stays in the same place while his legs are flinging themselves everywhere.

My goal was to write more ride recaps this year so I have more notes on things that worked and didn't work. That's how I'm going to get to the five day a week club!

  8. I posted daily for something like 500 days in a row. Sometimes the post was definitely filler. Not very interesting. Grasping at straws. But I felt like I had to get a post out. The first day I didn't post was right after I broke my leg. Since then I've managed to keep a fairly full schedule. it ebbs and flows tho. My lightest month was last summer when things finally fully fell apart with Isabel and I stopped riding her entirely. Bc yea. There was no motivation haha.

Basically I just try now not to beat myself up when there's nothing there (like right now when I'm traveling not riding this week haha). Usually tho I do try to keep the content coming and think ahead about it. Bc idk. I really enjoy it.

That said tho I love your blog too and am glad you keep posting!!!

  9. Sometimes there's so much to write about I can't keep up. Other times it's a wasteland. I try to do at least once a week so people don't forget me. :)

  10. You're doing so much better than I am on posting something!!! I have 5 drafts in a row of things I want to post but haven't finished the blog… so it sits… for ages… collecting dust… though to give myself some credit my computer is not working and it's really hard to edit/write posts on my iPad or phone

  13. I can't manage to post 5 times a week in the winter, but I usually can in the summer when I'm actually riding. This time of year just does not lend itself to blogging.

  14. You gotta follow your own voice and your own heart when it comes to blogging, and if you don't have content you just don't have content. Also I think we know some mutual people in the internet world together.... there should be a future meeting of the people's sometime.
